8-26-10
The elections take place in even-numbered years for federal, state, and local government spots in office. There are some states and local systems that hold there elections in odd numbered years. The presidents and vice-presidents of the U.S are re-elected every four years. The 22nd amendment ratified that no president can serve more then two terms of four years in office. The president also must be a natural born citizen of America and at least 25 years of age. In two years the U.S House of Representatives are re-elected, all 435 members. Along with this about one-third of the senate is re-elected as well, but the other part of the senate serves about six years in office. There are two types of elections which are General elections and Primary elections. Primary elections are to elect nominees for General elections where they go to represent in the overall election.
